"no I'm trying to remember the feel"

This beautiful sunny version of On Melancholy Hill is so warm and lovely.
Keeping the wolves from the door. Thanks Albarn.

*The whole live gig clip is really sunny and nice actually.
Nice intro to Souk Eye...

Still turning corners re my work - all of it. All projects...

Love & Theft by Andreas Hykade

Yesterday I revisited Andreas Hykade.
I think the first section with the snazzy music was around on the interwebs for awhile before the full 6.5 mins version...?
'Was fab in the cinema at MIAF...if my memory serves me correctly.
TBH I love it but don't enjoy the music once the electric guitar pops up. Just gets a bit token overdrive electric guitar - if it went a bit Shoegaze however... hmmm
It is though a great fun animation. Inspires me; Feel like relaxing into some auto-animation ...to relax.
One of his other animations "Ring of Fire" was on SBS ages ago, well before Love and Theft. Was quite memorable, loved the technique. How things have moved on since then. 2D 2D 2D

Hurdle hurdles Hurdle's hurdle

It's not me it's you. Oh, I'm at a point where today's work has revealed itself to have been work invested into the wrong angle [of the problem] - however the only way to have revealed this is to have invested work into the wrong angle. It would be nice to work out how to write that entirely as a palindrome - ah the magic that could come from procrastination. *could!!

Roll from Laurie Rowan on Vimeo.

Yep. Feeling it Laurie.

Marc Craste

Placing inspiration.
I remember animator of the week featuring on this blog.

Here is Senior Animation Director at Studio AKA: Marc Craste

Some of his work:
Pica Towers - (see video)
Jojo in the Stars
Varmints

Really nice to see his 2009 Pictoplasma talk

Stills

A still from a UK TVC "TSB The Story" by Studio AKA.
Directed by Marc Craste.
Character Designer: Steve Small.

The stills for this animation are lovely. I may have to watch the animation without sound to see if I still like it. I do love Marc Craste's work.

You can see an example of how the animation was built on the linked Studio AKA page, which is nice.

I'm not so hot on the 360ยบ camera spin technique. Often used for intense dialogue scenes in live action.
I generally don't like it but can see why it was chosen for this ad. It is cleverly done.

It's been a while since I've dived into Studio AKA. They harbour such richness in their work that one wouldn't expect in tvcs (television commercials).

*I wrote this post in May last year. Think I was planning to chat a bit more about the animation.
