Months, toads, forest dwellers.

Months of lockdown have left me feeling empty. The colours that have emerged, during this time, have kept me ...afloat.
Telling my children imaginary stories in the darkness before they go to sleep. Our journeys taking us through long grasses, ambling from the tops of mountains, carrying grandfather's lantern through the depths of deep dark forests, then padding the soft sands out to the sea. The most recent traipse led to the Sting Ray ...was a really lovely journey. Another adventure met some colourful grasshoppers in amongst the grasses... they all stopped to do athletics, before buying lollies down in the forest shop.

In an era of no cuddles there are little ones who can always be picked up and cuddled

Coming back to Boris Karloff. Listening to the texture late at night.

A reminder

In the midst of everything I realise I really need to review my archiving of old work.
Several animation files wouldn't open.
I need to UX ...my life!

Here, this beautiful animation of Nyapanyapa's work has put fire in my belly to make animation again.
As much as possible. I love it. *Worked with her in Yirrkala
Along with all of the other bits and bobs... in my world.

Quick links - animation

Studio aka

I'm looking at the use of imagery on websites. What works what doesn't. I'm always interested in portfolio sites, rich with content.

Couldn't help but to investigate three of my favourite animation studios/ or people (David OReilly)

Animated Zoom BG

Realigning with animation today.
For 44 seconds.
Threw in any animation I could find as my Zoom background. Hilarious. Didn't think it would work.
Did this little Flash animation at least 15 years ago.

Nice to hang out with her. 😉
Not actually ideal to have crazy animations ongoing in BG of a Zoom meet!

Back to work. I am not a procrastination queen.
Enjoying the documenting process again. In fact realising it is working for me on a few layers.

Remind Me from Röyksopp on Vimeo.

Current work/project evokes this 2002 Röyksopp clip.

*may have played clip to every single one of my past students...

#nostalgia

Also noteworthy: Covid giving me the pip.

Project Progress blog...

Documenting the progress of a project.

Who reads blogs? No-one. So a perfect place.
A seperate one perhaps.
Tiny pics lay out a nice overview of some of the work.
*Not quite animation.

Hello Stage4, you're still here?

Went to find glasses. Came back with cheese and biscuits.

Twice.

Arcimboldo

Shrigley gave me cause to celebrate this morning. *changed the colour of my wires.

Thanks Shrigley.

Arcimboldo ...Andromeda ...Korgis ...and a toad

Painting by Arcimboldo (mid 1500's)

Been looking at his paintings this week.

Korgis song just popped up.

Current project: I need to be spending a lot of time on Spotify (almost chose the Audible project...)
I found a funny playlist when I was scouting around. A lot of Dad songs... Vangelis etc. (thoughts of Dad cranking ELO in the Toyota...)
Nights in White Satin just came on. Needs to be on vinyl for full effect I'm afraid.

I've actually spent the days of late obsessing over particular Gorillaz songs (Andromeda live version in my previous post - love it). It is always fun to scarper backwards and forwards musically. This song by the Korgis I'm sure was befriended by AIR in the 90's

Zoom meet last night (notes pictured) - went well. Enjoying. Challenging week ahead though - tomorrow being half way through! erk.

Managed to create a pretty rough toad piece last night. Anything quick to catch the idea. Have to remember to catch them. If anything for a chuckle. Much needed. My personal Covid-bubble chuckle.
